Our Story.

Hi, I'm Jack, the owner of Universal Building Group.

I started this company back in 2020 with one goal in mind: to bring my carpentry skills to more people across the South Coast. I am a fully qualified carpenter, and Universal Building Group is a fully licensed and insured building company (Builder's Licence BLD319926), so you can trust that every project is done properly and to standard.

It began about as simply as a business can. The first jobs were for family: a deck out the back, a bit of carpentry around the house. It was work I was proud to put my name to. They were happy with it, and they told their friends, and before long I was building for them too. Then it was friends of friends, and then people I'd never met who had simply heard we did good work. One project led to the next, and what started as the odd weekend job grew into something far bigger than I first imagined.

As the work grew, the team had to grow with it. I took on apprentices and made a point of teaching them the trade the way I was taught it, properly, patiently, and with real pride in the finish. Over the years I've worked alongside a lot of skilled tradesmen, and I've never stopped learning from them either. Passing on what I know, and picking up what they know in return, has made all of us better at what we do, and it shows in the work we hand over.

These days there is a great team behind Universal Building Group. But some things have not changed, and I do not intend to let them. To this day I am still on the tools every single day, overseeing every project, and working on them with my own hands. Every job matters to me just as much as the last, whether it is a modest pergola or a major build, and every client gets my best work. That is how this company began, and that is how I will always run it.

If you have got a project in mind, I would genuinely love to hear about it.
